Bad Ideas Only

Ruin an object to re-imagine the world.
There’s a fine line between genius and chaos—and in this fast-paced workshop, kids explore both. Each participant picks a familiar object (like a chair or umbrella) and is challenged to “ruin” its purpose — a raincoat that absorbs water? A chair that won’t let you sit? Sounds terrible? Or maybe brilliant?
Using sketches and rapid prototyping at the Make Lab, kids bring their ruined inventions to life, then flip the script — imagining strange or brilliant new uses for their failed designs.
They leave with a wacky prototype and a fresh mindset on problem-solving, storytelling, and the magic of “what if?”
