The Flexi Organiser: Tackling Disorganisation Head-On

Mornings in a school-going household can feel like a whirlwind. The frantic search for misplaced ID cards, the last-minute hunt for missing socks—every day starts with a race against time. For students like Anaya Shaikh, Mehwish Shaikh, Ira Shaikh, Naved Shaikh, Gulfam Khan, Asma Ansari, and Mufsira Shaikh, this daily chaos was all too familiar. They weren’t alone either—classmates constantly struggled with forgotten homework, misplaced books, and lost water bottles. Even at home, uniform ties, mobile chargers, and earphones seemed to vanish into thin air. This lack of organisation not only caused stress and delays but also, at times, led to disciplinary action at school.

Determined to put an end to these daily struggles, the team of children set out to design a personalised organiser that would fit seamlessly into a school bag. Their vision was simple yet powerful: create a structured, adaptable and convenient solution that would help students keep their everyday essentials in order.

Their initial idea was to create a desk organiser to keep important items neatly arranged at home. But they soon realised that while this might help with tidiness, it wouldn’t solve the core issue—forgetting to pack things for school. So, they rethought their approach and came up with the concept of a transferable, customisable organiser bag.

The final design incorporated several key features to maximise functionality. The Tree-Divider System, a 3D-printed adjustable divider, allowed users to customise compartments according to their needs. A double-lined side pocket was designed to hold large files without creasing important documents. To keep frequently used items like ID cards or earphones within easy reach, they added a detachable small pouch with a hook-on mechanism. And for securing small, loose objects inside the organiser, they introduced an elastic side clasp, inspired by suitcase clasps, ensuring that everything stayed in place.

While plenty of organisers exist in the market, what made the Flexi Organiser stand out was its adaptability. The children designed each component thoughtfully as per their own experience, to cater to different users, making it a truly personalised solution for every school-going student. This level of customisation transformed a simple idea into a meaningful innovation—one that could genuinely make life easier.

Bringing the Flexi Organiser to life had a few roadblocks. One of the biggest hurdles was stitching the bag while maintaining its structure and aesthetic appeal. The team had to learn new skills, experiment with different materials, and refine their design multiple times. But with persistence, creativity, and teamwork, they overcame these obstacles and successfully built a functional and visually appealing prototype.

The Flexi Organiser isn’t just another school bag accessory—it’s a stress-reliever, a time-saver, and a confidence booster for all children. The team feels that with everything in its place, students can now start their mornings feeling more in control, ready to focus on learning rather than scrambling to find their belongings. They can’t wait for their friends to use it too.

Through their innovation, the students from PiKademy -After School Cohort have done more than solve a common problem—they’ve demonstrated the incredible potential of young minds in action. With creativity, teamwork, and determination, they’ve shown that even the smallest changes can make a huge impact on everyday life.

This project was brought to life through the dedication and creativity of the students, with guidance from Standard Chartered and support from MuSo along the way.
